Coloring order

  1. Color Miriam's yellow robe and teal shawl first, then her long braid in a dark shade, one strand at a time.
  2. Color the round hand drum she holds high in golden yellow, and give each woman with a drum behind her a different outfit color.
  3. Alternate blue and turquoise for the sea, and leave the palm trees up top and the sandy ground for the very end.

Questions to talk about

  • What sound do you think the drum made when Miriam raised it high?
  • What song might the women behind her be singing?
  • How do you show it when something wonderful happens?

Take it further

In Exodus 15 Miriam takes a hand drum and dances. Make a drum from a paper plate, then shake it and dance together to a song you like.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
