- Estimated time
- 25–40 min
- Difficulty
- Medium
- Areas to color
- about 60
Coloring order
- Color Bao's dark ears, eye patches, arms and legs in one deep shade first, leaving the white face and belly bare.
- Paint the many-pocketed vest in beige and khaki, and the round glasses and boots in brown.
- Finish the sprout in the little pot light green, the pot orange-brown, and the lens of the magnifying glass pale blue.
Questions to talk about
- What is Bao looking at so closely through the magnifying glass?
- How might the tiny sprout in the pot look a few days from now?
- Have you ever looked closely at a plant or an insect?
Take it further
Pick one leaf, look at its veins and edges through a magnifier, and draw what you see. Never aim sunlight through the lens.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
