Coloring order

  1. Color Esther's long gown and sleeves in rose or plum first, then add gold to her headpiece and sash as an accent.
  2. Give the king seated on the right a crown, beard and clothes in colors different from Esther's, so the two stand out.
  3. Finish with the fruit platter and golden cups on the table, the attendants behind her, and the fountain and garden trees, one small space at a time.

Questions to talk about

  • What is Esther about to say to the king with her hand held out?
  • How might Esther have felt just before she spoke up?
  • Have you ever spoken up even though you were scared?

Take it further

Play Esther and practice saying something difficult clearly and kindly. Friends act as the king and attendants, listen closely, and share which words stayed with them.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
