Coloring order

  1. Begin with the long robes of the kneeling Samaritan wrapping a bandage and the hurt traveler. Choose different colors for the two men.
  2. Color the donkey on the left gray, long ears included, then its saddlebag and rolled blanket, and the bandages on the traveler's arm and shoulder.
  3. Finish with the winding road, the big tree and its leaves on the right, and the hills and clouds.

Questions to talk about

  • How might the hurt traveler feel when he sees the Samaritan?
  • What job do you think the donkey will do next?
  • If you've ever helped a hurt friend, what did you do?

Take it further

Retell in order what the Samaritan did in Luke 10, then wrap a tissue bandage around a stuffed toy's arm and gently ask, 'Are you okay?'

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
