Coloring order

  1. Color Jesus' white robe and the blue cloth over his shoulder first, then his long hair and beard in a dark brown.
  2. Give the smiling child looking up beside him and the head cloths of the grown-ups around him different colors.
  3. Last, color the little sailboats on the lake, the faraway hills, and the wildflowers and trees on the grass in sky blue and green.

Questions to talk about

  • What story do you think Jesus is telling with his hand held open?
  • What would the child sitting beside him be most curious about?
  • Have you ever listened closely to someone's story all the way to the end?

Take it further

The Gospels describe many times when Jesus spoke with people and children. Sit in a circle and take turns telling a favorite story while everyone listens.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
