Coloring order

  1. Color Peter's red shoulder cloth, his cream tunic and the blue sash first, then alternate blue and teal across the wide lake.
  2. Color the big net he is hauling up and the fish inside one by one, mixing silver-gray, pale blue and orange.
  3. Last, work on the boat's mast and the other fisherman pulling the net, the nets hung on the left and the reeds at the water's edge.

Questions to talk about

  • What do you think Peter shouts when the net gets this heavy?
  • What kind of face does the friend in the boat make seeing all these fish?
  • Have you ever worked together with others to carry something heavy?

Take it further

In Luke 5 Peter's net fills with fish. Cut out lots of paper fish, put them in a cloth, and have two people lift it together by the corners.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
