Coloring order

  1. Start with the blanket around baby Isaac, Sarah's long rose-colored dress and the striped cloth over her shoulders.
  2. Give the grown-up standing at back right and the people carrying baskets each their own outfit color.
  3. Finish the big jar on the left, the triangle and diamond patterns on the rug, the tent and the palm trees, small spaces one by one.

Questions to talk about

  • What do you think Sarah is saying as she looks at baby Isaac?
  • What might the people with baskets have brought for the baby?
  • Have you ever held or watched a baby or a younger sibling? How was it?

Take it further

In Genesis 21 Sarah is overjoyed to hold baby Isaac. Wrap a small doll in a cloth and hold it gently while you sing a soft lullaby.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
