Coloring order

  1. Start with the two large stone tablets Moses holds in his arms, his white beard, red cloak and blue sash.
  2. Alternate warm gray and brown on the big boulders of the trail, and make the two mountain goats on the high rocks stand out.
  3. Finish the rising sun and its spreading rays, the village in the valley below and the clouds, in yellow and pale violet.

Questions to talk about

  • What words might be carved on the tablets Moses is carrying?
  • What would you see looking down at the valley from the top of the mountain?
  • Have you ever carried something precious very carefully?

Take it further

In Exodus 34 Moses comes down Mount Sinai with two tablets. Make tablets from thick paper and write one promise you would like to keep together.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
