Coloring order

  1. Start with the sky, the distant hills and trees, then the grandstand, the control tower and the chain-link fence. You can fill the blank billboards with your own team name or pictures.
  2. Color the wide track dark gray and the striped curbs at the corner in alternating red and white, then color the race car silver, red, yellow or another color.
  3. Finish with the big rear wing, the round headlights, the wheels, the safety frame (roll cage) inside the car and the stacked tire walls.

Questions to talk about

  • Why do you think tires are stacked along the outside of the corner?
  • Why do you think the race car has such a big wing on the back?
  • What do you think the people in the control tower do during a race?

Take it further

Design your own race circuit in a notebook. Add a long straight, tight corners, a grandstand and a pit area, then give the track a name.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
