Activity guide for this page
- Recommended age
- Ages 4–6
- Estimated time
- 10–20 min
- Difficulty
- Easy
- Areas to color
- about 30
Coloring order
- Begin with the round body, big head and sturdy legs in gray or bluish gray, coloring each large shape evenly.
- Fill the wide-open ears with pink on the inside, and match the trunk curling upward to the body's gray.
- Use cream for the little tusks and a rosy pink for the smiling mouth. Do the round toenails last.
Questions to talk about
- The elephant lifted its trunk high. What might it be about to do?
- If this elephant flapped its big ears, what kind of breeze would it make?
- If you met a friend much bigger than you, what would you like to do together?
Take it further
Stretch one arm up like a trunk and stomp around slowly. Take turns saying one thing a trunk could do, and keep the list going.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
