Ways to use this collection
Five BMW models are here, each as a color reference and a black-and-white line drawing. The boxy lines of the M3 E30, the sharp M4 Competition G82, the open-top i8 Roadster and Z4 M40i, and the tall X5 M Competition all have different body shapes, which makes this a good set for comparing as you color.
Activity ideas
- Sort the five cars into coupes, open-top cars and tall cars on the desk, and let the child say out loud what rule they used to group them.
- Print the M3 E30 twice: color one exactly like the reference and the other in a theme color the class agrees on, then compare how different the two feel.
- Call out parts one at a time, such as wheels, windows, side mirrors and headlamps, and have the child choose a color for each in a car-parts vocabulary game.
Tip Color the big body panels with the pencil lying flat and finish small areas like wheels with a sharp point, which lets children from about age 6 get a clean result.
