Coloring order
- Begin with Dunerush's body, the long tail curling up and both powerful legs in warm desert-clay reds and oranges.
- Color the stripes running from the back down the sides in pale apricot or yellow, and the two short horns above the eyes dark brown.
- Finally, fill in the small pebbly scales one by one with the tip of your pencil, and finish the claws in gray.
Questions to talk about
- Where is Dunerush racing to so fast?
- Can you find the two small horns on its head? What shape are they?
- Have you ever walked on hot sand? How did it feel under your feet?
Take it further
Tuck a paper strip into your waistband as a tail and play desert race: run, then freeze like Dunerush whenever the signal word is called.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
