Coloring order
- Color the feathers of Dawnhalo's raised wing so they blend like first light: pink at the bottom, yellow at the top.
- Use very pale shades for the cream chest, belly and slim legs, and a clear orange for the horns rising above the head.
- Finish the full tail feathers hanging below, coloring them one row at a time in yellow, orange and pink.
Questions to talk about
- Where do you think Dawnhalo waits for the sun at daybreak?
- What colors does the sky turn just as the sun rises?
- What was the very first thing you did when you woke up this morning?
Take it further
Color layers of pink, orange and yellow crayon from the bottom of a page upward to make a sunrise sky, then glue Dawnhalo on top.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
