Coloring order

  1. Start with Duneskar's broad wing membranes, neck and body in sandy tones and golden orange.
  2. Use pale yellow for the belly and the rows of scales under the neck, and a deeper orange for the horns and mane behind the head.
  3. Last, color the feet at the ends of the long legs and the pointed spikes down the tail in two shades of brown.

Questions to talk about

  • What kind of footprints would Duneskar leave in the sand?
  • Where might Duneskar be heading across a desert full of blowing sand?
  • Have you ever played in sand? What did you build?

Take it further

Use a stick to draw Duneskar's big footprints and dragging tail in a sandbox. No sand? Rub the side of a crayon over paper for a rough texture.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
