Coloring order

  1. Start with the bookcase, desk, and drawers on the left in wood tones, then color animator Daeun's cable-knit sweater broadly in one color, such as lavender.
  2. Color the cat on the drawing tablet screen, the hand holding the pen, and the headphones around her neck, splitting the cat's fur pattern into two or three colors you choose.
  3. Save the robot and teddy bear on the shelves, the cat drawings pinned to the board behind her, and the potted plant on the right for last, smallest first.

Questions to talk about

  • How will the cat on the screen move in the next scene?
  • What stories do you think the drawings on the board tell?
  • If you created a cartoon hero, what would it look like?

Take it further

Draw a cat on several small sheets, changing its pose a little each time. Stack them and flip through quickly to see whether the cat seems to move.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
