Coloring order

  1. Color the round beret and the big overalls first, then alternate two colors on the striped shirt underneath.
  2. Fill each little paint spot on the palette in his left hand with a different color, and color the brush in his right hand brown.
  3. Paint whatever picture you like on the canvas on the easel, then match the paint splashes on his overalls to the palette colors.

Questions to talk about

  • What picture do you think Davin is painting on his canvas?
  • Which color on the palette do you like best?
  • Have you ever gotten paint or crayon on your clothes?

Take it further

Dab paint onto a small piece of paper to make your own palette, then invent names for three colors you would like to name.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
