Coloring order

  1. Color the curry in the brass bowl in warm orange and brown, and dot the coriander leaves on top green.
  2. Make the naan cream with a few brown charred spots, leave the basmati rice white, and color the little spice bowls red, yellow and green.
  3. Color the big tray gold and the arched windows and wall patterns behind in deep orange and teal to set the Indian restaurant scene.

Questions to talk about

  • What do you think curry smells like? Which colors are the spices?
  • In India people tear naan by hand and dip it in curry. What do we use to eat?
  • How many little bowls are on the tray?

Take it further

Find spices with different colors, such as turmeric (yellow), chili (red) and parsley (green), and make color cards for them.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
