Coloring order

  1. The curving green stripes of the terraced tea field are the biggest area, so alternate a light green and a deep green across them first.
  2. Divide Haewon's long skirt and jacket between cream and dark green, and color the basket of tea leaves in a light brown.
  3. Finish the big white flowers in the lower corners, the little pavilion on the hill and the layered mountains one at a time.

Questions to talk about

  • Where do you think the tea leaves Haewon picked will end up, and who will drink them?
  • What might the May breeze smell like as it crosses the tea field?
  • Where is the greenest place near your home?

Take it further

Use three green pencils to give each row of the tea field its own green, then invent a name for your favorite shade and write it on the back.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
