Coloring order
- Keep Leon's fencing jacket and pants white, and run blue only along the side seams of his body and legs so the outfit takes shape.
- Color the mesh mask pushed up on his head, the black glove and the round hand guard of the foil he is thrusting forward in grays and silver.
- Leave the two arched windows, the red banners, the crossed swords, the row of masks on the wall and the long piste lines on the floor for last.
Questions to talk about
- Why do you think Leon has pushed his mask up on his head?
- Who might own all the masks hanging in a row on the wall?
- Why do fencers need a mask over their face when they practice?
Take it further
Roll newspaper into a long soft stick and copy Leon's big forward step in front of a mirror. Always keep the tip of the stick pointed away from people.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
