Coloring order
- Start with the stack of logs along Woodi's side, using two or three browns. You can add growth rings on the round log ends.
- Then color the deep green cab, the wide silver grille, the big eyes and the smile, taking each part calmly.
- Last, color the row of round lights on the roof, the tall exhaust pipes and the big wheels.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think the circles inside a log's round end are?
- What would you like to build out of the wood Woodi carries?
- Have you seen a really big tree in a forest or park?
Take it further
Place paper over dry leaves or tree bark picked up in a park and rub a crayon on its side to bring out the texture of the wood.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
