Coloring order
- Start with the white uniform shirt and pants of the batter in mid-swing, and color the stripe down the side of the pants red.
- Match the red-and-navy cap, the elbow guard and the belt in the same color family, and give the long bat a light brown.
- Last, color the tall red socks and the spiked shoes, and treat the goggles and hairpin as their own small parts.
Questions to talk about
- Where do you think the ball will fly when Nari swings the bat?
- Japan's flag has a red circle. Can you find the red parts of this uniform?
- Have you ever thrown or caught a ball? How did it feel?
Take it further
Crumple newspaper into a ball and roll another into a paper bat, then gently tap the ball. Check first that nobody and nothing is nearby.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
