Coloring order

  1. Begin with Esther's kneeling figure: her long, wide-sleeved robe and the cushion beneath her. Try purple with gold edges, as in the color reference.
  2. Color the patterned bands along the robe and her long hair, then make the crown she has set down on the stone bench gold.
  3. Finish the palace garden: the carved arches and pillars, the rose bushes on the left and the stone floor tiles.

Questions to talk about

  • Why do you think Esther set her crown down on the bench?
  • How might Esther have felt before going to the king?
  • When you need courage, what helps you feel ready?

Take it further

Read Esther 4, where Esther asks her people to fast with her. Then write one brave thing you want to do on a card and stick it beside your picture.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
