Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 9–12
Estimated time: 50–75 min
Difficulty: Challenging
Areas to color: about 370

Coloring order

Start with the sky, the clouds and the pointed future skyscrapers. Giving each building a different color, like blue, purple or teal, makes the city look brighter.
Color the curving skyway and the monorail track gray, then color the hovering Roadster red, silver or any color you like.
Finish with the thrust beams under the wheels in yellow and orange, plus the flying drones, the small flying cars and the monorail windows.

Questions to talk about

If cars could fly, how would roads and traffic lights need to change?
What jobs do you think the drones are doing in this future city?
What might be better about a monorail on a raised track compared with a bus on the ground?

Take it further

Imagine what your own neighborhood will look like in the far future, and draw a future city with sky roads and new kinds of vehicles.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
