Coloring order
- Start with Rexflare's big shapes: the thick legs, the round belly and the long tail curling upward. One or two colors are plenty.
- Next, color the tiny arms held close to the chest, the wide-open jaws with sharp teeth, and the eye in a dark, bold shade.
- Last, color the rows of round scale plates on the back and tail in two alternating colors, then the big claws on each foot.
Questions to talk about
- Why do you think Rexflare's arms are drawn so small?
- What would you hear if this dinosaur came stomping toward you?
- Have you ever yelled really loudly? How did you feel afterward?
Take it further
Tuck your arms in tight like Rexflare, take big stomping steps, and invent a roar word together. Who can make the funniest dinosaur roar?
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
