- Estimated time
- 45–70 min

- Challenging
- Areas to color
- about 270
Coloring order
- Start with Ignivar's heavy body and four thick legs in dark gray or brown, leaving the cracks between the scales unpainted.
- Trace the cracks between the scales and under the chest in thin orange and yellow so they look lit from the inside.
- Color the wings raised on both sides from red to orange, then finish the thick claws and the round lump at the tail tip in a deep shade.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think Ignivar is staring at from its low crouch?
- If orange light glows from those cracks, what might be inside?
- How does it feel to sit near a warm heater or in the sunshine?
Take it further
On black paper, draw jagged crack lines with orange and yellow crayons to make a rocky skin pattern like Ignivar's.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
