Coloring order

Start with the brick wall at the back and the wooden cupboards below, then give chocolatier Louis a dark brown apron and a blue shirt with rolled-up sleeves.
Color the chocolate fountain dripping on the left, the spatula Louis holds, and the heart chocolate on his plate, using lighter and darker shades of the same brown.
Leave the round chocolates and colorful macarons in the case, the jars on the shelf, and the oven fire on the right for last, smallest spaces first.

Questions to talk about

Who do you think Louis made the heart chocolate for?
Which chocolate in the display case would you pick?
Besides chocolate, what treat would you like to make yourself?

Take it further

Cut brown paper into circles, hearts, and squares, glue them onto a paper plate, and draw toppings with markers to make a chocolate box like the ones in Louis's shop.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
