Coloring order
- Color the big orange areas of Leo's firefighter jacket and pants first, then give his yellow helmet one bright, even color.
- Next, color the thick hose in his hands and the long coil trailing behind him in dark gray or black.
- Last, color the reflective bands on the sleeves and cuffs, the little badge on the helmet and the big boots.
Questions to talk about
- Where do you think Firefighter Leo is rushing off to with that hose?
- How many reflective stripes can you find on his jacket and pants?
- Have you ever seen a fire truck or a fire station? What did it look like?
Take it further
Wind a piece of yarn around yourself like a hose and play firefighter, rushing off to help someone who needs it. The fire is pretend, of course.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
