Coloring order

  1. Color the space outside the huge round window dark navy first, then fill the swirling, cloud-covered Earth that fills the window with blue and white.
  2. Color space engineer Kai's fitted work suit, the goggles pushed up on his forehead, his knee pads, and boots, then make the big wrench in his right hand silver.
  3. Finish with the control screens and keypads on both sides, the floor tiles, the box floating outside, the little moon, and the stars.

Questions to talk about

  • What could be inside the box floating outside the window?
  • What part of the station is Kai about to fix with his wrench?
  • Have you ever fixed something that was broken? What was it?

Take it further

Play a space station walk, moving very slowly as if you were floating. Then pretend your hand is a wrench and go looking for things to fix around the room.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
