Coloring order
- Begin with Haewon's jacket and the long skirt swirling as she walks the bicycle. Two colors are enough for these big areas.
- Give the bicycle's basket, two wheels and handlebars one clear color, and pick a neat companion shade for her sneakers.
- Use two yellows for the forsythia branches and drifting petals on both sides, and a clear sky blue for the river, bridge and city beyond the railing.
Questions to talk about
- Where do you think Haewon is walking her bicycle to?
- Do you remember the first moment you felt spring arriving?
- When the lights come on across the river, how would this scene change?
Take it further
Tear yellow paper into tiny scraps and glue them onto the forsythia branches. This March path turns into a much fuller flower lane.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
