Coloring order

  1. Fade the water in the background from pale sky blue at the top to deep blue at the bottom, so Corally looks like it is floating in the sea.
  2. Color Corally's swimming body teal, the stripes across the belly pale yellow, and the leaf-shaped fin at the tail tip and the wing in other colors.
  3. Color the round and branching corals at the bottom pink and orange and the seaweed on both sides green. Leave the bubbles white or pale blue.

Questions to talk about

  • Corally has its eyes closed. How do you think it feels swimming along?
  • Where are all the bubbles floating in this picture? Can you spot them?
  • Have you ever been to the sea or a pool? What did the water feel like?

Take it further

Tear blue and green paper into long strips to make a seaweed forest, then draw one sea friend Corally meets along the way and keep the story going.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
