Coloring order
- Color the shiny lid of the open box oven, the box itself and the cookies inside first. A silvery sky blue lid and a brown box work well.
- Then color kneeling Nari and Toto beside her, and alternate red and white on the checkered picnic blanket and the plate of cookies.
- Last, divide the sunflowers, the garden fence and the rays of the big sun at the top into small areas of yellow and green.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think happens to the box oven when the sun hides behind a cloud?
- Who would Nari and Toto like to share these cookies with?
- Is there a snack you ate on a picnic blanket on an outing?
Take it further
To imagine a solar oven, press a smooth piece of foil inside a box lid and, with a grown-up, just watch the sunlight sparkle on it.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
