Coloring order

  1. Start with the clouds and the tall anemometer on its tripod in the middle. Clear blue for the sky and silver-gray for the spinning cups.
  2. Color Nari gripping the pole, Toto beside her and the red-striped windsock on the right, alternating colors stripe by stripe.
  3. Last, add small touches: the clear tube of water on its base below, the railing and buildings behind, and the green trees.

Questions to talk about

  • Is the wind blowing from the direction the windsock is pointing?
  • What shapes do today's clouds have, and what do they look like?
  • How would observing from the rooftop differ on a rainy day and a sunny day?

Take it further

Keep a weather diary using a sun, cloud or rain picture and a wind arrow for today. It turns into a rooftop weather-station game.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
