Coloring order

  1. Begin with the box fan, the clear round tunnel and the paper airplane inside it. A deep blue fan and a very pale blue tube would look good.
  2. Color Nari and Toto stretching out as if running, then give each paper airplane hanging from the string at the top its own color.
  3. Last, color the pile of origami paper on the desk below, the scissors in the pencil cup and the corkboard, one at a time.

Questions to talk about

  • What shape should a paper airplane be to stay up inside the wind tunnel?
  • What do you think Nari shouted as the airplane met the wind?
  • When you last flew paper airplanes, what did the farthest one look like?

Take it further

Fold two differently shaped paper airplanes from origami paper and fly them with a grown-up in a wide space, like a paper airplane wind tunnel test. Talk about which one went farther.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
