Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 6–9
Estimated time: 35–55 min
Difficulty: Challenging
Areas to color: about 280

Coloring order

Start with the long skirt Arctic Pearl Princess Marina lifts gently with both hands. Try pale teal for the overskirt and a very light, almost white blue for the wavy ruffles underneath.
For the pearl strands draped along the skirt, leave each circle white and outline it in light gray. Color the starfish on the skirt, her long wavy hair and the seashell crown at this step too.
Finish with the turtle poking its head out of the water on the right, the floating chunks of ice, the palace shaped like giant seashells behind her and the round pearl lamps on the left.

Questions to talk about

What might the turtle want to show the princess?
If you opened the door of the seashell palace, what would be inside?
Have you ever picked up shells or stones at the beach?

Take it further

Stick white dot stickers or paper circles in a row to make a pearl necklace for Marina. Alternate big pearls and small pearls, and it turns into a fun pattern game.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
