Coloring order
- Start with the tiered skirt of Lolly, the Gingerbread Snow Princess. Leave the white frosting waves near the top uncolored, and color the bands below them pink, mint and yellow, one row at a time.
- Color the tiny candy sprinkles dotted all over the skirt in lots of different colors, one by one. Then do the swirl candies, the candy bow in her hair and the lollipop wand in her hand.
- Make the gingerbread castle in the back brown and keep the snow on its roofs white. Finish with the red-and-white striped candy canes, the snowman's hat and scarf on the right and the round jelly drops on the ground.
Questions to talk about
- What might appear when Lolly waves her lollipop wand?
- Which door of the cookie castle would you open first?
- If you built a snowman, what hat and scarf would you give it?
Take it further
Cut brown paper into a house shape and draw wavy lines along the roof edge with a white crayon so it looks like a snowy cookie house. Glue on colored paper circles for candy windows.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
