Coloring order

  1. Color the petal-layered skirt from the biggest bottom petals upward, alternating orange and yellow.
  2. Then color the slim bodice and sleeves, the small flower in her curls, and the dewdrop lantern she holds high.
  3. Last, add the giant tulips behind her, the round wooden door, and the ladybug and sparkling dewdrops on the leaves.

Questions to talk about

  • Where is the princess going with her lantern?
  • Who might live behind the little round wooden door?
  • Have you ever seen water drops sitting on leaves after rain?

Take it further

After rain, or after misting a leaf with a spray bottle, look closely at the droplets and sketch how they roll and sit.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
