Coloring order
- Color the green overdress and cream skirt, and let the leafy vine pattern on the front stand out in a deeper green.
- Give the leafy woven cloth spilling over her lap a gray-brown color, and her braid, which reaches her waist, a rich brown.
- Last, color the flock of swans in the sky, the castle on the hill across the lake, and the basket and wildflowers on the left.
Questions to talk about
- What do you think the princess is making with the cloth she weaves?
- Where are the swans flying to?
- What is something you have made with your own hands?
Take it further
Loop thick yarn or string around your fingers to weave a small piece, and take turns adding one sentence about what it will become.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
