Coloring order

  1. Start with the blue velvet gown, leaving the snowflake embroidery down the middle of the skirt white and pale blue.
  2. Then color the fur-trimmed cape over her shoulders, the bluebird on her fingertip and her dark hair.
  3. Finish the snowy trees beyond the greenhouse glass, the icicles on the frozen fountain and the red berry branches on both sides.

Questions to talk about

  • Why do you think the bluebird flew into the greenhouse in winter?
  • What would it take for the frozen fountain to flow again?
  • What do you wear to stay warm in winter?

Take it further

Tear red, green and white paper into small pieces and glue them in a ring to make a round winter wreath.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
