Coloring order

  1. Color Marina's turquoise body and both of its wings, and make the round nose in front a bright, eye-catching yellow.
  2. Color the two long floats under the plane, which replace wheels, in sky blue, and add red to the wing tips as an accent.
  3. Alternate two blues in the ripples on the lake below, and save the dark green trees on the right shore for last.

Questions to talk about

  • Marina has no wheels. How do you think it lands on water?
  • Who would Marina like to meet in the forest by the lake?
  • Have you ever looked for things that float on water? What were they?

Take it further

Fill a basin with water and float a paper boat, a sponge and a spoon, guessing first which will float and which will sink. Do it with a grown-up.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
