Activity guide for this page
- Recommended age
- Ages 5–9
- Estimated time
- 25–40 min
- Difficulty
- Medium
- Areas to color
- about 80
Coloring order
- Color the wide frame around the cockpit orange first, and leave the window glass white so the space outside shows clearly.
- Color the blue helmet and headphones, the two hands gripping the wheel and the white spacesuit, then the wheel itself dark gray.
- Color the lumpy round asteroids outside in grayish brown, the safe winding path between them sky blue, and the crescent moon and stars yellow.
Questions to talk about
- How will the asteroid-belt pilot find a way between the round, rocky lumps?
- Can you trace the winding path with your finger? Where does it end?
- Have you ever turned a steering wheel? What were you riding in?
Take it further
Hold a paper plate like a steering wheel and play Dodge the Asteroids: one person stands still as an obstacle while the pilot walks slowly around.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
