Activity guide for this page
- Recommended age
- Ages 5–8
- Estimated time
- 25–40 min
- Difficulty
- Medium
- Areas to color
- about 210
Coloring order
- Start with the wide tatami floor in light green, pressing a little harder near the dividing lines so each mat stands apart.
- Keep Hana's judo uniform white and trace only the stitching on the collar and sleeve ends in gray, then color the belt tied at her waist red.
- Finish with the latticed window, the stacked training mats, the hanging scroll and the little bonsai tree in wood tones and green.
Questions to talk about
- Who do you think Hana is facing right now?
- What words or picture would you put on the hanging scroll?
- How should we greet everyone when we first step into the dojo?
Take it further
On a mat or a folded blanket, reach one hand forward and bend your knees just like Hana. Agree together to bow to each other at the start and the end.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
