Coloring order
- Begin with the surfboard: the green base and the yellow zigzag bolt on top, and add a white border around its edge.
- Color Nari's teal long-sleeved top with its yellow stripe, then the navy shorts and the black leggings below them.
- Finish with her two wide-open arms and her bare feet, using a skin tone.
Questions to talk about
- What kind of wave made Nari spread her arms so wide?
- What sounds and smells might you find at a beach in Australia?
- Have you nearly slipped while playing near water? How did you keep your balance?
Take it further
Tear blue paper into long wavy strips and glue them down, then set a paper surfboard on top and make up a wave-riding story.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
