Coloring order
- Color the red hockey jersey and the black and white stripes on its sleeves first, then the black shorts in a dark color.
- Keep the white helmet and face cage light, and make the thick black gloves and tall red socks dark by comparison.
- Finish with the skate blades on the ice, the long hockey stick and the round puck at lower right.
Questions to talk about
- Where is Nari trying to send the puck with the end of her stick?
- What might winter in Canada look like? What would you do on snow and ice?
- Have you ever walked carefully across a slippery floor?
Take it further
Cut snowflakes and hockey sticks from red and white paper and glue them down for a winter rink picture. Blue paper makes a nice icy background.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
