Coloring order

  1. Begin with Elijah sitting on the rock: his beard, curly hair, the brown fleece cloak over his shoulders and the cream tunic.
  2. Color the flying raven's wings and the bread in its beak, then give the second raven perched beside him a very dark shade.
  3. Last, color the little water jar beside Elijah, the stream and small waterfall below, and the yellow wildflowers in the rocks.

Questions to talk about

  • What would Elijah say when the raven drops the bread?
  • What kind of day does Elijah have alone by the brook?
  • Is there a time someone helped you and you felt thankful?

Take it further

Act out the raven bringing bread. One person plays Elijah and one plays the raven, then trade places and perform the short scene again.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
