Coloring order

  1. Start with Joseph's striped tunic in turquoise and coral, then color the tablet tucked under his arm in brown.
  2. Color the sacks of grain he is pointing to and the spilled kernels in yellow and ochre, and the scale on the left in gray-brown.
  3. Last, take your time with the workers carrying sacks behind him, the tall buildings, the palm trees and the faraway river.

Questions to talk about

  • Why do you think there are so many sacks of grain next to Joseph?
  • What was Joseph thinking as he stored grain for a time when food would be short?
  • Have you ever saved something for later, or shared it with someone?

Take it further

In Genesis 41 Joseph stores grain during the good years. Label two paper cups 'use now' and 'save for later', then sort paper scraps into them.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
