Coloring order
- Start with the clouds filling the sky and the sea at sunrise in orange, pink and yellow, keeping the area near the horizon the brightest.
- Color the body of the flying roadster concept silver and the wheels dark gray, then lightly shade the jet streams slanting down below the wheels in sky blue.
- Finish with the cliff-top lighthouse, the winding coast road, the pointed sea rocks and the wildflowers up front in orange and purple.
Questions to talk about
- Where along the coastline is this car flying to?
- What would the lighthouse keeper say on seeing a flying car?
- Have you ever watched the sun come up over the sea?
Take it further
Draw the sea and cliffs along the bottom of a sheet of paper, then draw your own imaginary flying car in the sky above. Give it a name and decide what its jets look like.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
