Activity guide for this page

Recommended age: Ages 5–9
Estimated time: 25–40 min
Difficulty: Medium
Areas to color: about 200

Coloring order

Color the baby bear's fur a chocolate brown first, leaving the muzzle and the insides of the ears a lighter shade.
Paint the cape over its shoulders red with a white furry trim, then pick a different color for each of the five presents stacked high in its arms.
Save the wreath on the wall, the snowy night in the window, the log-wall lines, and the small presents on the floor for the end.

Questions to talk about

Where is the little bear carrying all these presents?
What could be inside the box at the very top?
Have you ever given someone something to show you care?

Take it further

Stack empty boxes or blocks into a present tower like the bear's. Count how many you can pile up before it wobbles, and compare that number with the boxes on the Christmas baby bear page.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips

Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
The finished version is only a suggestion. Any colors you like will work.
