Coloring order

  1. Color the wide frill around Triverda's neck first, using leafy greens, and switch shades a little in the spaces between the veins.
  2. Give the single horn above the nose, the two long horns over the eyes and the beak-like mouth the same warm, light color.
  3. Finish with the small triangle bumps along the frill's edge and the round scales on the body, alternating colors one by one.

Questions to talk about

  • Triverda has three horns. Can you find where each one is?
  • If you could hide behind that big frill, what would you do there?
  • This guardian protects a meadow. What would you like to protect?

Take it further

Cut a fan shape from paper, attach it behind a headband as a frill, add three rolled-paper horns, and play Triceratops herd together.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
