Coloring order
- Follow Aqualune's long S-curved body: deep blue along the back and pale sky blue for the stripes across the belly.
- Color the fan-like fins beside the head and along the back, shifting from blue to purple and alternating shades from one fin to the next.
- Finally, fill the round spots on the big curled tail fin and the whisker-like strands above the head with soft, light colors.
Questions to talk about
- Where in the water do you think Aqualune is swimming?
- Trace its S-shaped body with your finger. What does the movement feel like?
- Have you ever put your face in the water at the sea or a pool? How did it feel?
Take it further
Wave a long ribbon or paper strip in a slow S-shape, and walk lightly like Aqualune gliding through the waves.
Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.

Printing and coloring tips
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait to keep the original proportions.
- Keep the finished version open beside you while you color.
- Use slightly heavier paper with water-based markers so the ink shows through less.
- Fill the large areas first and leave the small ones for later.
