Coloring order

  1. Color the icy, see-through wing panels of Crysel in pale sky blue and light violet, alternating them, with slightly deeper edges.
  2. Paint the whitish body and neck scales very lightly in pale blue so the white of the paper stays like a sparkle.
  3. Last, trace the snowflake at the bottom and the sharp icicle shapes near the tail in a deeper blue, following the lines.

Questions to talk about

  • Crysel's wings are split into glassy panels. What shapes can you find?
  • If you met Crysel on a snowy day, what would you say?
  • How would you describe the feeling of touching something icy cold?

Take it further

Fold white paper several times, snip small shapes with safety scissors and unfold it into a snowflake to hang beside Crysel.

Age and time are rough guides for a child coloring alone with pencils or crayons; every child is different. The area count is an estimate counted from the line-art image.
